Tonbridge had as many chances but Brentwood's clincial finishing proved the difference. Having drawn 0-0 earlier in the season Tonbridge retained a 4-5-1 formation with Richard Cook a lone striker. First choice centre-backs Porritt and Hain-Cole lined up together for the first time in seven games.
The game started evenly, Brentwood maintaining possession but Tonbridge defending solidly with good shape. However, just as Tonbridge asserted themselves, Brentwood scored with their first chance - a loose ball hammered home via an unfortunate deflection. Brentwood added a second moments later before a series of chances camne and went for the OT's. Dickie T was fouled making a teasing run down the left flank and Lockwood drilled the free-kick flat on the post with the keeper unmoved. Elliott, Cook and Tennant had efforts before a mis-kick and classy 40 yard lob saw Brentwood go 3-0 up.
Despite the deficit Tonbridge continued to play some attractive football - Jamie Tennant, back and fit from university, had a fantastic game and delivered two superb crosses for Harrison and Cook who on another day would certainly have scored.
As so often in the Premiership Tonbridge left the field feeling they deserved better. Brentwood were strong and their effectivness in the final third decisive.
